About the experience
A conflict resolution workshop gives teams space to practise the conversations they often put off. “The conversation your team avoids” is a practical experience for managers, human resources staff and work teams in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It focuses on feedback, expectations, boundaries and disagreements that need attention.
A conflict resolution workshop for difficult conversations
When an important conversation is postponed, colleagues may fill the gaps with assumptions. Unclear expectations can then become frustration or repeated misunderstandings. This workshop invites participants to examine those situations and prepare a respectful conversation before tension grows.
The experience is relevant when teams struggle to give feedback, address a disagreement or ask for a change. It offers guided practice connected to workplace situations, with attention to both speaking clearly and listening to another perspective.
What your team will practise
Participants explore how to describe a situation, express an expectation and ask questions that clarify what matters to each person. They practise giving and receiving feedback, discussing boundaries and identifying a possible next agreement. The aim is to make the conversation more specific and easier to follow.
For example, a scenario might involve a missed handover, an unclear responsibility or a recurring difference in how colleagues approach a task. These examples provide opportunities to separate observations from assumptions and consider a constructive next step.
From disagreement to a possible agreement
The session combines workplace scenarios, guided conversation and reflection. Participants consider how to prepare before speaking, stay focused on the issue and close with a clear next step. Tools for preparing conversations and support resources are agreed upon for the team’s context.
The workshop creates an opportunity to practise. It does not require everyone to share the same view or promise that every disagreement will be resolved in one session.
Duration, group size and languages
The workshop usually lasts 2–3 hours for groups of up to 20 participants. An assistant is required for groups larger than 20. Facilitation is available in Spanish and English, in person or online.
