About the experience

Hospitality team training helps staff explore how communication, emotional regulation and coordination shape the guest experience. “What the guest feels” is a practical workshop for hotels, restaurants and tourism teams in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It focuses on everyday service situations and how colleagues respond when demands increase.

Hospitality team training for demanding service situations

Guests may not see everything that happens during a shift, but they experience the team’s response. A rushed exchange, an unclear handover or a tense interaction can affect how a guest feels. This workshop gives colleagues space to examine those moments and practise clearer ways to communicate.

The experience is relevant during high season, periods of increased demand or times when coordination becomes difficult. It brings attention to both the guest interaction and the support colleagues need from one another.

What your team will practise

Through guided conversation and everyday workplace scenarios, participants practise listening, expressing needs and responding respectfully under pressure. They also explore brief self-regulation practices to recognise tension and create a pause before reacting.

For example, a service situation might involve a guest complaint, a misunderstanding between colleagues or a handover during a busy shift. These examples provide a starting point for discussing expectations, sharing perspectives and identifying a possible next step.

Practical tools from hospitality team training

The aim is to give the team opportunities to practise communication and coordination in a service context. Participants reflect on how they can support colleagues, clarify responsibilities and approach difficult moments with greater awareness. Practices and support resources are agreed upon for the team’s context.

Duration, group size and languages

The workshop usually lasts 2–3 hours and is designed for groups of up to 20 participants. For groups larger than 20, an assistant is required. Facilitation is available in Spanish and English, in person or online.
